Tooth Extraction in Alpharetta GA
At Alpharetta Creek Restorative Dentistry, we offer a comprehensive array of services designed to keep your smile healthy and intact for as long as possible. If a tooth becomes damaged, we will do everything possible to try to save it. But in some cases, a tooth is so severely compromised that removing it is the safest, healthiest option.
A tooth may need to be extracted because of severe decay, damage caused by advanced periodontal disease, or it has fractured in such a way that it can't be saved. We may also recommend extraction if you have problematic wisdom teeth or when we are preparing for orthodontic treatment or dentures therapy.
Your Comfort Is Our Priority
Our compassionate team understands that a procedure like extraction can cause dental anxiety. If you are feeling apprehensive or fearful about treatment, please share your concerns with us. Dental anxiety is quite common and nothing to be embarrassed about. When we understand your needs, we can be sure to take any steps necessary to ensure that your procedure is as comfortable and anxiety-free as possible.
Contrary to what you might think, tooth extraction is typically a straightforward procedure. Before we begin, we'll help you get settled in and make sure you're comfortable. Next, Dr. Kai numbs your mouth to make sure you don't feel discomfort. He then carefully and expertly removes the tooth. Your comfort is our priority, so if you feel any discomfort during the procedure, please tell us right away.
Before you leave our office, we will provide you with a list of post-procedure instructions. In general, we advise that when you rinse, you do so very gently. It is also best not to try to drink through a straw, and definitely don't smoke for at least 24 hours after your procedure. Any of these actions can cause the clot that protects the site to come loose and delay healing.
It's important to keep brushing and flossing as you normally would after your procedure. Just don't disturb the teeth around the site of your extraction.
Tooth Replacement Options
After extraction, replacing a missing tooth is crucial for several reasons. A replacement tooth improves your appearance, restores function, and prevents surrounding teeth from drifting into the neighboring empty space.
We will guide you through the process of choosing a tooth replacement long before we begin your extraction. Dr. Kai will explain all the options we offer for replacing the tooth once healing is complete. Everyone has unique needs, so we will take time to explore all the options we offer including bridges, partial dentures, and dental implants.
