What are dental implants?
Losing just one tooth can lead to a series of events that can seriously compromise your overall oral health. Surrounding teeth will gradually shift into the space left by the missing tooth.
Replacing missing teeth is important, and dental implants offer a very effective solution. Dental implants are embedded in your jaw bone and act as a replacement root for the missing tooth.
The implant works as an anchor that provides permanent support for the dental restoration attached to it. The restoration may be a crown, bridge, or full or partial dentures. Dental implants are secure and durable and should be cleaned and cared for in the same way as your natural teeth.
Dental implants require placement of a titanium replacement root into your jaw. Every case is different, but once the implant has been secured in the jaw bone, healing usually takes several months. We’ll be able to give you a better estimate once we’re familiar with your specific case. Once the bone has healed, we anchor a replacement tooth to the implant.
Dental implants have changed the way we look at tooth replacement. There’s a lot to consider when thinking about having a dental implant placed. We encourage you to contact our Alpharetta dental office, and we’ll be happy to arrange a convenient consultation with Dr. Kai Liang.
