What Is SureSmile?

close up of woman putting Sure Smile inSureSmile is one of the most well-known clear aligner systems in the world and is also considered the most advanced. The technology relies on clear aligners taken from an impression of your smile. The impressions are sent to the SureSmile lab, where your aligners are made of clear, comfortable plastic for discretion and comfort.

SureSmile's innovative design straightens the wearer’s teeth more predictably and comfortably than ever before. With this world-renowned aligner system, you can achieve the smile of your dreams in just a short time. Dr. Kai Liang is a SureSmile-trained dentist who values your comfort, safety, and smile goals. With Dr. Kai’s help, you can achieve optimal oral health, starting with a straightened set of pearly whites.

How Long Does SureSmile Take?

It's difficult to say how long treatment will take until we meet with you to evaluate your needs. In general, though, SureSmile treatment takes up to a year or two for adults; for teens, treatment times are similar to those of traditional orthodontics.

At our Milton, GA area dental office, we start the SureSmile process with a consultation with Dr. Kai Liang. This step is essential because we need to understand your goals to ensure the results meet and exceed your expectations.

Next, Dr. Kai plans your treatment using 3-D imaging to develop a virtual model of your teeth. This model allows him to predict the movement of your teeth throughout treatment. Your aligners will be customized to move your teeth gently into the proper position based on this information.

All these specifications are sent to a SureSmile lab, where your customized aligners are fabricated. When they're ready, we'll have you return to our office and receive your aligners along with instructions for using them.

You'll receive several sets of aligners, and each set is designed to move your teeth sequentially as you progress through treatment. Wear each set 22 hours a day for about two weeks, taking them out to eat, brush, and floss.

Throughout the process, Dr. Kai will monitor your progress until we have reached the desired results. The final step is to wear your retainer daily so your newly aligned teeth don't relapse and undo all your efforts.

What Are the Benefits of Clear Aligners?

There are numerous benefits associated with clear aligners, from how they fit to how they allow natural function. There are also oral health benefits following your SureSmile therapy.

Some of the specific advantages of SureSmile during treatment are as follows:

  • SureSmile aligners are transparent. If you don’t want a mouth full of metal, SureSmile may be the solution for you. SureSmile is nearly transparent, so no one can even see when you’re wearing them.
  • Clear aligners can be easily removed. Unlike traditional braces, invisible aligners are removable, so you don’t have to be stuck wearing them all day, every day. For example, you can take them out when you brush your teeth or when you eat.
  • SureSmile aligners are comfortable. Clear aligners are made of medical-grade plastic, so naturally, they’re much more comfortable than metal braces.
  • SureSmile aligners are customized. Everyone’s different, and so are everyone’s mouths. Thankfully, clear aligners are completely customized to fit your unique bite.

Following treatment, the benefits of a straight smile are many. First, you can brush and floss your teeth more effectively when teeth are not overlapping. An aligned bite also means less wear on specific teeth, which reduces your risks for fractures and dental cavities. A straight smile also allows you to smile with confidence!

What Should I Expect During My Clear Aligners Consultation?

Your SureSmile consultation consists of a thorough dental examination to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the aligners. If SureSmile is the right option for you—based on exam results and your smile goals—your dentist will then fit you for SureSmile to ensure they stay secure in your mouth—with the help of state-of-the-art 3-D computer imaging, of course!

Based on his findings, Dr. Kai creates a customized treatment plan with your aligners. Now, your smile transformation can officially begin! Depending on your case, you could complete your treatment in as little as six months or longer. However, most patients notice an improvement in a matter of weeks—watching your smile transform across the treatment timeline can be very exciting

Frequently Asked Questions

Smiling Woman | Adult Orthodontics AlpharettaYour smile says a lot about you. If you have crooked or crowded teeth, you probably spend a lot of time trying to conceal your smile.

At Alpharetta Creek Restorative Dentistry, we believe that everyone deserves an attractive smile that helps them to feel confident in any social situation. Misaligned teeth detract from your appearance, but that is just one reason why we need to straighten crooked teeth.

Oral Health Issues from Misaligned Teeth

Your good dental health depends on conscientious at-home oral hygiene. When your teeth are crowded, they are difficult or impossible to clean properly. Flossing is essential, but your oral health is at risk if you can't get the floss between your teeth. Even your dental hygienist may find it difficult to floss your teeth adequately.

Lack of proper oral hygiene can put you at significant risk for gum disease. If you develop gum disease, you are at risk of developing other oral health problems.

Sure Smile in Alpharetta

At our Alpharetta dental office, we are pleased to offer Sure Smile, a popular short-term orthodontic solution. You can easily remove clear aligners for eating and oral hygiene. Most patients achieve proper alignment in about a year with Sure Smile.

If you are ready to do something about your crooked smile, please give us a call. We will be happy to arrange a consultation with Dr. Liang to discuss your needs and see if Sure Smile is the right choice for you.

SureSmile has completely changed the way we approach adult orthodontic treatment. Gone are the days when your only option for a straighter smile was bracket and wire braces. Today we can use clear aligners to straighten crooked teeth comfortably and in much less time than traditional orthodontics

At Alpharetta Creek Restorative Dentistry, we have helped many patients enjoy a renewed smile with SureSmile treatment. There are lots of good reasons to choose SureSmile:

Clear Aligners in Alpharetta

The clear aligners are made of a soft plastic that won’t irritate the inside of your mouth like brackets and wires. Since SureSmile isn’t affixed to your teeth, the aligners can be removed for eating and easy brushing and flossing. No one will notice you’re wearing SureSmile because the aligners are crystal clear and let your smile show through. Treatment with SureSmile is fast – we can often achieve desired results in as little as a year.

You don’t have to spend years in uncomfortable metal orthodontics to get the straight smile you want. If you are considering treatment and would like more information, please call our Alpharetta Creek dental office to arrange a consultation. Dr. Kai Liang will be happy to take the time to sit down with you to discuss your needs and determine if SureSmile is right for you.

You have completed the aligner phase of SureSmile treatment, and you are thrilled with your beautiful new smile. The process was easier than you thought, but you're glad it's over.

Or is it? Not really; many people make the mistake of thinking that SureSmile treatment ends when your finish with your aligners. But immediately after treatment is complete, you will receive a retainer and instructions for wearing it.

Importance of Wearing Your Retainer

You may think that retainers are only for kids. After all, their bones are still developing, and it's easy to see why a retainer is needed. But the fact is that adults also need a retainer because our teeth are always moving to some extent.

A retainer keeps your teeth properly aligned so they don't relapse into their original positions. There are different types of retainers, and Dr. Kai Liang will recommend the one that best fits your needs.

If you need further convincing, consider the fact that about a third of the adults who seek orthodontic treatment do so because they did not wear their retainers!

They are removable, but keep in mind that the longer they’re worn each day, the faster you’ll see the beautiful final results.

What Is a Retainer, and Will I Need One?

For years your teeth were misaligned or overcrowded. SureSmile has corrected the situation, but your teeth are accustomed to their old lineup. A retainer reminds the teeth that the new positions are best!

Your Alpharetta implant dentist takes careful impressions of your smile and uses the results to create a custom, clear aligner to protect your investment and keep your teeth straight.

It’s important to remember that orthodontics can relapse without the intervention of a custom retainer. A member of our dental team provides instructions, and we are always here for you if you have any questions about your new smile or your custom retainer.

Do You Offer Any SureSmile Financing in Alpharetta?

Our in-office ACR Simply Smiles Payment Plan may help you finance your smile goals. It is an interest-free program that breaks down treatment costs across the months. If you choose ACR, we bill your credit card monthly. A member of our team will let you know whether you qualify for this plan; contact our office for further details.
