If you haven’t visited a dental office in a while, you may be surprised by all the advances in technology and much easier and more effective they make your treatment. Dr. Kai Liang and his team are committed to providing our patients with the most up-to-date oral health care that dentistry as to offer, and modern technology allows us accomplish that goal.
One goal we have for all our patients is to involve them in making decisions about dental treatment so we can help them achieve their goals for perfect oral health. An intraoral camera is designed specifically for dentistry and is a valuable diagnostic and patient education tool.
This tiny camera allows us to immediately share detailed images of your teeth so that you see what we see. With this information at hand, we can better explain to you the reason for treatments and discuss your options. The intraoral camera gives our team greater visual clarity, which makes diagnosis easier and more accurate.
Oral cancer is quite aggressive, and this is made worse by the fact that it often goes undetected until it has advanced. As part of every dental exam at Alpharetta Creek Restorative Dentistry, Dr. Liang conducts a thorough oral cancer screening that includes the use of technology called a VELscope. This small instrument is designed to help us painlessly examine your mouth, lip, and gum tissue for any signs of cancerous or precancerous lesions.
Survivability rates increase dramatically when oral cancer is found in its earliest stages, and the VELscope allows us to detect problems long before they become noticeable during a visual exam.
Digital x-rays allow us to clearly see what's going on in your mouth in a just a few seconds by sending the images captured directly onto the computer screen. These images can be enlarged, which can help Dr Kai see the small changes that’s not seen during a visual exam.
Digital x-rays are also better and safer for your health. This method of capturing images has been proven to significantly reduce the radiation exposure. There is also no added environmental waste with the traditional film based x-rays.
VibraJect Injection Comfort System
One of technology added to the practice this month was the VibraJect Injection Comfort System. No one looks forward getting numb for dental treatment, but it is necessary to provide a comfortable experience. This device is based on of Perception. In short, the theory suggests that the nerve endings are more sensitive to the vibrations than other signals, therefore, it helps override the pain signal from the needle.
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CT Scan)
Alpharetta Creek Restorative Dentistry have recently added Cone Beam technology to provide better care for our patients. This is one of the newest x-ray technology that is used to produced three dimensional (3D) images of the teeth, soft tissues, and nerves around the jaw in one single scan.
Some of the common procedures that benefits from CT scan are…
- Accurate placement of dental implants.
- Evaluation of the jaw, sinuses, nerve canals and nasal cavity.
- Detecting, measuring and treating jaw tumors.
- Surgical planning for impacted teeth.
- Determining bone structure and tooth orientation.
Digital Impression Imaging
To keep up with the current trends in advance digital dentistry, Alpharetta Creek Restorative Dentistry have recently added Care Stream 3600 intraroaral Scanner. Here are some of the benefits of this newly acquired technology:
- More comfortable - no longer will we need the traditional impression materials that could trigger your gag reflex.
- Speed - a typical scan for crowns will now take 1-2 minutes.
- Accuracy – taking the human error components out of crown fabrication step. Digital impression imaging allows for better fit of your new crowns, accuracy is down to the microns.
