I take my oral health seriously, so I brush my teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, floss every day, eat a healthy diet, and visit my dentist every six months for regular checkups and cleanings. Unfortunately, even with good hygiene habits, dental issues can happen.
When the unexpected happens, and I need a permanent solution to tooth damage, I can rely on the expert dental team at Alpharetta Creek Restorative Dentistry. They can create a customized dental crown to restore my smile and protect my tooth.
What Is a Dental Crown?
A dental crown is a cap made to cover my entire tooth. It restores my natural tooth to its original shape, size, and function. A dental crown is used in the following situations:
- To fix a broken tooth
- To protect a damaged tooth
- To save a severely decayed tooth from extraction
- To complete the root canal process
- To conceal a stained or discolored tooth
- To cover old metal fillings
- To replace old, unattractive dental work
Different Types of Dental Crowns
Alpharetta Creek Restorative Dentistry gives me two different options for dental crown restoration:
Traditional dental crowns – For this type of crown, I will make two trips to my dental office. During the first visit, my tooth will be prepared, and my dentist will place a temporary crown on my tooth until the dental lab can create my permanent crown. Once it’s ready, I will return for them to cement my permanent crown in place.
Same-day dental crowns – If I have a more immediate need for a dental crown, my dentist offers same-day dental crowns that can be placed in just one visit. This gives me a second option in case of an emergency or if I need the convenience of only making one trip to my dental office.
